Kenya Gap Year Programmes
Latest Political Update - November 2011:
If you are concerned about the somali pirate issue that has affected the very northern coastline of Kenya please read this update to provide you with peace of mind.
Leap to Kenya and find yourself living and working in 3 contrasting environments: first Diani Beach on the southern most part of Kenya's coast line, secondly in the exotic tropical Shimba Hills and thirdly in the dusty bush of Tsavo National Park whilst tackling a fantastic mix of conservation + community + ecotourism projects.
So, by taking the leap to Kenya you'll experience the wildlife, the dust, the sweat + the sand while challenging both your mind + your muscles!
On your time off we can also arrange for you to climb the mighty Mount Kenya, safari across the rolling grasslands of the Maasai Mara or scuba dive in the Indian Ocean.
Why so good?
Because you get to contribute in many different ways in many different places and your thirst for travel is quenched - perfect solution all round!
Travel as part of a Leap team
Volunteering for us is all about all about team work - we find that our Leapers have more fun and are more effective when they travel as a group, who rally each other along and tackle the projects head on to complete in the time available.
We have 4 different teams departing to Kenya each year: Jan, Apr, July + Sept, for 6 or 10 weeks. We put together the teams and hook you all up via Facebook before hand. All you have to do is apply now to book your place!
Average team size is 12, mix girls + boys, from all walks of life, ages 18 - 25.
Travel + Contribute in 3 Locations
Shimba Hills: Mwaluganje Elephant Sanctuary
Your first 2 weeks will be spent in our mobile camp set in the middle of this famous elephant sanctuary, which has the densest population of elephants per square mile worldwide. The camp has a 360-degree view so remember to take you bino's!
+ Diani Beach: Makongeni Camp
The next 5 weeks you'll be based in a tented camp a short distance from Diani Beach on the South Kenya Coast.
+ The Bush: Rukinga Ranch, Tsavo East National Park
The final phase will be spent in a bush camp in the centre of Rukinga Sanctuary, set out like an African village, surrounded by endless views of the African Bush and its incredible wildlife.
