South Africa Gap Year Programmes
South Africa is our exception to the rule in that you'll live in the middle of a 4000 hectare private game reserve for the whole of your placement but the projects are all over the place...conservation projects are in the reserve, community projects are in the township (just outside) and eco-tourism are based in the luxury safari lodge on the reserve.
The reserve is famous for its elephant and horse safari's and the spectacular micro lighting flight low over the bush - all of which is ready for the taking! For those with a passion for horses we have a fantastic horse safari option - see below.
Weekends are free for travel and past leapers have ventured as far as the beaches of Mozambique, to see the hippos in the Limpopo River or even the penguins waddling on the Cape.
Travel as part of a Leap Team
Volunteering for us is all about all about team work - we find that our leapers have more fun and are more effective when they travel as a group, who rally each other along and tackle the projects head on to complete in the time available.
We have 4 different teams departing to South Africa each year: Jan, Apr, July + Sept. We put together the teams and hook you all up via Facebook before hand. All you have to do is apply and book your place!
Average team size is 12, mix girls + boys, from all walks of life, ages 18 - 25.
