Kalinda and the boys at CCF, Tanzania

My name is Kalinda Roff and I am 24 years old. I have given up my life in Australia to live here in AfricaTanzania, Arusha to help the unfortunate street children of Children for Children’s Future. (C.C.F)

I came to Tanzania with The Leap in January 2010 to volunteer in orphanages and schools, and my plan was to go home after 8 weeks. After The Leap finished I was due to fly out of Dar es Salaam, home to reality in Australia – Melbourne, but how quickly all of that changed!

Through my amazing volunteer work with The Leap I had formed very strong bonds with all of the children at C.C.F and out of all the orphanages that I had worked at C.C.F was the one which screamed out to me for help the most. So after a phone call to my sister back in Australia and many long sleepless nights of thinking about leaving those poor children, I decided to stay and throw away my non-refundable ticket home.

Children for Children’s Future was founded in 1994 by a volunteer fro Germany named Peter Kuhe’l and some Arusha residents. (Peter has now died and all of that staff have left) At the stage when Peter was alive, C.C.F had over 100 street children being cared for and over 10 staff. Now, only 26 children and 2 staff. Now, like many similar institutions in Tanzania it is plagued by corruption…AND that is why I am here!! To try to stop the corruption and fight for the rights of the children at CCF, because they deserve a better life and a fair share of the money which people donate to the centre!

These are children who were born of parents, cherished and loved at one time in their life, but now are in the most desperate of situations. They too have hopes and dreams like you and I, they just need a little help in achieving them. So if many hands, not just mine, could direct their energies towards these children this disaster could one day be something of the past, and we could all give them back their will to live.

My highest priority is to put all of the children into school to get the education they all so desperately want and deserve. To provide them with essentials like regular food and water, bedding, medicine, transport, cooking utensils etc. To build the orphanage up to its full potential and get it back to how it was when Peter was alive. So then I can bring in many more children off the street, providing the children with a better future and quality of life.

So … This is my plea to you and to every single person and business that you know, because I cannot do this alone.
