Family Travel Adventures
filed in Announcements, South Africa on Apr.03, 2009
Family Mini Leaps leap have evolved by our own basic needs. As a young company we have young children and a dream to do more with them than the obvious all-inclusive or self-catering in Cornwall. We want a family travel adventure!!
With the trappings of modern day it seems more and more difficult to give our kids the groundings of a conscience and the realisation of their fortunate world verses the developing. How many times have you uttered the words ‘eat your tea there are people starving in Africa‘…empty words on deaf ears. Showing our kids by getting them to interact with communities who have very little is a humbling experience and brings huge rewards for all involved.
Our mini leap programs in Africa and South America provide a fantastic way to literally ‘open their eyes’ and ours for that matter. Here you can combine the rewards of a family holiday with making a real contribution to a local community and surrounding conservation.
We recommend that the kids are about 8 years old but if you think your younger kids are up for the challenge then please call us to discuss.
Activities for the children
In each destination the activities/project work will be different so please have a good look at all the destinations to see which would be the most appropriate for your brood.
In general we have found our visiting children make an impact by workings “side by side” with the communities, teaching basic English, reading stories, simply playing sport. It is the giving of friendship that really matters and has the greatest of impact. Taking pens, paint or crayons out with you is always successful as it makes for very rewarding art lessons!
In all our placements you’ll find…
Variety
The combination of projects in each placement reflects the many different faces of a country, providing a real and honest insight into their world. The variety provides contrasting challenges and experiences
Legacy
Approximately 65% of the cost is spent in-country. Over the years we have built classrooms, sponsored children and improved the health of many communities.
Matching Expectations
With our variety of programs and in-depth consultation process, we are confident we can match our expectations.

Even kids can help to make a difference. Painting an animal enclosure for orphaned elephant in South Africa offers children a real engagement with conservation issues
