Another  week has gone by, unbelievably the Leap team have now been here for 4 weeks! Everyone is starting to feel African now and the team is still getting on great.  This was another busy week for the volunteers spending their mornings constructing that walls of a nursery and teaching the school kids in the afternoon. They have made a lot of progress and some have become expert brick layers!

Teaching also went well and we had lower and upper classes getting a share of the Leaper’s time. They became incredibly popular and the children turned up in their droves- we had 4 lower classes every afternoon and 2 upper classes! The younger kids  seemed very eager to learn and brought all their energy to class- a bit of a handful but great fun for the Leapers : )

On Friday afternoon we went to a place called Muhaka where a Solar-stove project is up and running to learn  how they are made and put to use by the community. The leapers researched their importance to the local environment and we are hoping a similar project will be implemented by The Leap soon in Makongeni.

But it wasn’t all work and no play, we finished the week on Friday evening with a football match between the Leap girls and the small boys of Makongeni where the girls lost 2-0 (despite an obvious height advantage!) but it was great fun.

Back next week with more news…think of us all in the sunshine!
