South Africa Team Update: April 2010
filed in South Africa on May.19, 2010
Sorry its been a while since an update, internet has been down here and things have been busy at Kwa Madwala! The group had a great time in Mozambique and it was nice to spend some time away from the reserve and have a proper relax. Before the six weekers left on Tuesday we have done 4×4 and rifle shooting, tracking lessons and climbed Wilsons Kop which is the largest hill in the area, it made for a stunning view to end their placement. Oh, not to mention playing plenty of footy with our storming team ‘The Mock Charge’!!!
This week and weekend the team has been painting the room they built in the orphanage with a break on Thursday and Friday for Kruger National Park. The group was lucky enough to see the Big 5 and also see a pack of wild dogs which are extremely rare! They all had a wonderful time and have some excellent photos of game to take home Next week is a conservation week which includes a Bird day where we will give a presentation about the most common birds in this area and then do a walk and a drive to see if we can spot any.
At the weekend Mpumalangas Carnivore expert is coming, for Kwa’s own program, to give a talk to the students and while he is here he will be darting the male lion and chipping him so he can be more easily tracked. The group will luckily be able to be on the sidelines while this is happening…cameras at the ready!
Hope all is well
Thanks Luke

The team sit down to a hearty meal/birthday celebration at Gazebo
