Hi everyone,

I can’t believe it’s the Leapers last week in South Africa already! Half the group went of to Sabie yesterday to do all the adventure things while the other half stayed behind and went to Kruger National Park for the day where Elephant, Rhino, Lion, Buffalo, Wild dog, Cheetah were seen! I’m sure the Sabie guys will be full of stories to tell as well! With regard to the project work in the community the highlight has been the Leapers completing another room onto the orphanage. The room will be used as a classroom for the orphans when the centre is complete. The group did all the work with the help of a professional builder and included mixing the cement, laying the bricks, plastering the walls, roofing, flooring and painting – fully completing the room! The team constructed a sterdy monkey bar frame and other play equipment for the kids to use. They also taught at the nearby junior school in subjects ranging from English to world culture including Scottish highland dancing!

With regard to the project work on the reserve, this team have completed many small projects including building a boma out of branches and logs for our survival night and built a new road on the reserve around the staff village as the previous road went straight past the village. The group also carried out maintaince on the roads after heavy flash flooding. They also layed new pipes under the main reserve road for water runoff. The conducted many antipoaching patrols and collected many snares in the bush.

Here’s a few recent photos of the Leaps in action:
