Borneo Team Update: Jan ’10
filed in Borneo on Jan.10, 2010
Hello from Not completely Sunny Borneo!
Hows the weather in Uk ? Still freazing cold?! Its been raining here all week and my attempt to surprise the team up at Tinangol with chocolates for their hard work failed as I got stuck in a big flood in Kota Belud, half way on Saturday. So had to turn back. What a bummer! I’m still checking on weather conditions and on standby to go up there anytime to see their progress on the site. But they seem to be getting on really well, replorts are they’re working way too quick for the local’s liking- like professional builders!
The rain hasn’t seemed to put anyone off and thankfully the forecast is better for next week : ) At least it’s been hot hot hot and the team have been making friends with the local community (and forna- see below!).
All is cool at the Camp and despite a few downpours there was one day of work postponed due to the heavy rain. We replaced that with some cultural activities at the camp and a taste of the local homebrew, which was entertaining! All came down for work digging holes for the Kindie foundation today getting all muddy but I think they enjoyed it.
Max is having such a great time he has asked if he could to stay on in the village after finishing his 10-week leap program for another 3 weeks joining some other volunteers to continue with Kindie project which is great news.
Best wishes,
Mel (Borneo Project Leader)
