Cambodia Team Photo Diary: First impressions of Siem Reap!
filed in Cambodia on Apr.04, 2010
Well, after a Mammouth journey (about 17 hours of travelling, 3 flights via India and Thailand and ALOT of in flight movies) the team finally arrived in Siem Reap, Cambodia last week…
Their first few days were spent exploring this incredible town (Cambodia’s hippest with incredible nightlife, beautiful French architecture and only a stones throw away from the famous Angkor Watt Temple Complex) which is a huge magnet for backpackers and volunteers alike.
On Friday they were all treated to an incredible sunset at Angkor Watt, the temples made famous by Angelina Jolies’ Tomb Raider escapades. This huge temple complex dates back to the 12th Century and is a source of huge natinal pride for Khmer people. Built by the Khmer kings in a process that lasted almost 4 centuries, this magnificent area had been abandoned and hidden by the forest. Re-discovered by a french man about 150 years ago, Angkor Wat is quickly becoming one of the most visited archaeological and artistic site on the planet.

I am interested in chatting with some folks who took this trip. My daughter is interested in doing the same type of trip.
Thanks
