Argentina Polo Team Update 2: Summer 2009
filed in Argentina, South America on Aug.06, 2009
News just in from Diego in Argentina:
The Polo team (Matt, Sophie, Grace, Hattie, Jen and Georgie) have had a great first week in the Pampas and have totally settled into life at La Asuncion. They’ve had a couple of polo lessons, some schooling of young horses (planned to develop their riding skills), lessons on tack and boot cleaning, and have helped build some log enclosures for a patch of land we are working on for having their lessons. Our Polo field is still a little wet from a “100mm- in one- day” storm so we are thinking of moving to a neighbours field on Friday .. if the sun doesn’t turn up and dry our own field. Fingers crossed!

Newly kitted up!
We have also visited the Rural fair in buenos aires, that is the annual most important exhibition of the agricultural industry in Argentina, the team got a taste of the polo business by coming with me to the horse auction at the fair. We also visited the tack store and some got new equipment for them. Now we are making plans for dinner in Buenos Aires on friday and maybe we’ll stay there for the weekend…give the girls (and guy!) a chance to chance to let their hair down!
So far, so good, then. The Leapers all look happy and they are a lovely, polite and educated bunch!
