Argentina Polo Team Update: Summer 2009

Jen, Grace, Harriet, Matt, Georgie and Sophie saddle up for 6 weeks in the Pampas!

The Summer Polo team are looking at home in the Pampas already having just spent their first weekend at LA 54, the horse-breeding estancia 2 hours South of Buenos Aires that will be their home for the next 6 weeks. Jen, Grace, Hattie, Matt, Georgie and Soph are the first team of Polo Leapers we’ve sent to La 54 (though we’ve been organising Argentina Polo placements for several years) and Diego, the host tells us they’ve made a big impression already with the staff and family!

On Sunday the team were treated to a Gaucho style barbeque the welcome them into their new home (and take the chill out of the cold night air) before meeting Martine, their Polo coach for the next 6 weeks. They will spend the rest of the placement honing their Polo playing skills each afternoon after mornings spent helping the Gauchos excerise and look after the Polo horses. They’ll also be assisting the stable vet, Victoria helping to administer vaccines and care for the pregnant horses.
