Ecuador ’09: Alan’s Blog (A Short Post)
filed in Ecuador on Sep.19, 2009
Hello all,
firstly i would like to appologize for the lack of capitals in this post. the computer that i am at in mindo does not seem to understand the advanced concept of proper punctuation. however, i must add that this the only bad news i have to share. We are currently on a weekend get-away in mindo, known for its pristine location amidst Ecuador´s cloud rainforest. we hiked about a half an hour down a ravine today and jumped off of some rocks (where i chipped a tooth jumping off some rocks…probably because i was screaming like a little girl, but not to worry, the jump was definitely worth it!). we met about 6 college students also in mindo for the weekend. they´re from both the university of oregon and oregon state. so, we´re planning on meeting up with them tonight.
all is well here, the house we are building with the tsachilla tribe is almost completed; we only have to thach the roof and nail up the bamboo walls. it´ll be sad to say goodbye to the amazing people that live there: alfonzo-the man of the village, melinda-the woman who has two children who have taught us the nastiest swear words around, and richard-the eighteen year old who has memorized every spell in the harry potter series.
needless to say, ecuador has been, is, and will be an amazing place. i can´t wait to see more of it.
more to come around wednesday or thursday of next week when we´re back in quito. hopefully the computer will have capital letters there.
todo de mi amor,
alán.
