Ecuador Update from the Project Leader (2)
filed in Ecuador on Sep.29, 2010
Hola!
This week was a good week with a lot of variety, on most fronts! Project-wise, on Monday we transferred soil and rocks that are to be used to construct the exterior wall of the community market and then on Tuesday we finished with the rocks and also transferred cement blocks. Since those two days were quite physically demanding, on Wednesday we planted two more fields with corn and beans to give the muscles a bit of a break.
Then on Thursday we went up to Lake Cuicocha and cut paja, a hay-like grass that is used to thatch roof, this was used to make the roof of an open sided tent right at the entrance to Cuicocha, where there is going to be an exibition of typical Andean food this weekend. On Friday we cut some more paja and twisted it together for the roof construction of the market place. The only complaint was the lack of variety of food (lots of bread and rice!), but a few nights ago we had lasagna for dinner, which was a nice treat.
That’s all for now folks!
Kelly (Leap Project Leader)
