Jambo from Dar es Salaam!

Would you Adam and Eve it, we’re now into the 7th week of project work for the Leapers and have arrived at the coast of Tanzania to begin the next phase of the placement! On Monday we put the first two 6 week Leapers, Charlotte and Suzy on the fight back home and they have written back saying that they are arrived home safely. The other two 6 weekers, Rebecca and Kalinda are in Zanzibar enjoying the sandy beaches there…hopefully the rest of the team will be heading over to join them for a long weekend of sun and scuba on Friday!

It’s been a fantastic 6 weeks of volunteer work up to now and the team have been very effective in their work. The biggest impact that they have had in the community includes; sending some kids to school at CCF (the centre for Street Kids in Arusha), reviving their vegetable garden and making permanent shelves on a food storage at Camp moses and Camp Joshua.

They have also constructed a kitchen at the deaf school in moshi that was so badly needed. At Biring’a Secondary School they painted murals on classroom walls and teachers offices. On this week they have started work at St. Felister Missionary School and are looking forward to having a nice time in Zanzibar for the weekend. I will keep you posted on what goes on as we head towards our last weeks at the coast.

Thanks, Mathias (Tanzania project leader)
