Meet Us and Briefings
Please come along with your son or daughter to our UK Briefing Day. If you cannot attend or live overseas then we provide online video briefings and can answer any questions once viewed.
It is the perfect opportunity to provide you with detailed information on clothing, medical, safety, placement, visas, insurance, financial security, flights, insurance management and support, details on the placement with photos (tasks, accommodation, food, transport etc), general travel advice and more.
It is a great opportunity for your son or daughter to meet others travelling with them before they depart (relieves the nerves) but great for you too to meet other parents, and us, to share your concerns and hopefully leave satisfied that we are going to look after your son or daughter really well and that they are in safe hands.
You will not be cramping their style by attending, the day is intended as much to reassure parents as the volunteers themselves. So please attend if you can, you are most welcome.
It is obviously our opportunity to get to know you all too, ensuring we are confident the volunteer has chosen the right placement for them and helps put a face to a name and personalise the relationship when we start calling people at home with updates.
“We felt far more reassured and relaxed once we had attended the Leap’s Briefing Day for our daughter, we had lots of questions that were answered face to face, The Leap didn’t duck serious issues or things that had gone right and wrong, the examples were excellent and kept people’s attention.
Sometimes it is difficult for a parent to ‘advise’ their young especially about things like alcohol intake, relationships, accidents and risks etc, so having The Leap saying the things we wanted to say, and more, was especially helpful as our daughter and the others really took it on board. It was a really professional and helpful day, well worth the drive and effort and nice to meet the people ultimately responsible for our most precious asset and feel confident that The Leap will do a thorough job whilst remaining friendly and approachable”. Mrs Holman – mother of Alice
“The training day was informative and very useful; it reassured us about your company, the planning that goes into your projects and how you care for the Leapers. We left Bristol quite content that Matt would benefit from his Kenyan trip partly because of your company’s preparedness. The advice you provided about the trip, e.g. money, safety, local customs, the voluntary tasks, was pitched just right in my opinion. It gave everyone a taste of what was to come as well as providing sufficient information. The group activities were a great idea, not just fun for the participants but great to watch for the non-participants. I was so envious of what they had ahead of them!”. Mrs Smith
