We understand revising is one of the least favourite parts of school and one where day dreaming really comes into its own. I still have nightmares about revising, so I know what it's like. While you’re on your revision break sit back, relax and let me tell you about our top 5 picks for gap year destinations. We guarantee to leave you feeling motivated to get through exams and ready for sunnier climes.
Though Borneo doesn't sound like every gapper’s dream destination, we feel it gets sorely left out. En route to Australia (a gapper’s paradise) this is the ultimate destination to discover. Think beautiful rain forests, national parks and hot humid dramatic landscapes
Why you’ll love it: Meet the orangutans at the world-famous orangutan rehabilitation centre in Sepilok. Head out on safari to spot the pygmy elephants deep in the forest and then discover all about rain forest conservation in East Sabah. Borneo is having its moment, get there before the crowds realise.
Best time to visit: Year-round. Hot and humid throughout. March-October is considered dry season, but it's known for it to rain somewhere in Borneo every day – perfect for lush rain forests.

Step off the traditional backpacker trail and discover stunning tribal culture, some of the friendliest people you will ever meet as well as some epic landscapes. Spend your time working in schools in Arusha to help with sustainable development projects to improve children’s schooling.

Best time to visit: Dry season is June to October, who knows what you’ll be lucky enough to spot on your adventure to the national park. We couldn’t let you go all that way and be all work and no play, could we?!

I know I shouldn’t have favourites, but I do. This program is such a wild adventure. Camping under the stars while you help to rebuild a national park for the endangered black rhino, this is stepping into the unknown and it is so rewarding.
Why you’ll love it: The most epic vast landscapes, it feels like another planet. Go rafting along the orange river and see for yourself why it is so extraordinary. Your work will contribute to a lifelong project that we are privileged to be part of. This is for the curious, the adventurous and the bold. There is nowhere like Namibia.
Best time to visit: Peak time is July-October as it can be rather hot earlier in the year. Prepare yourself for dry dusty heat.

The ultimate destination for marine biologists, conservationist and adventurers too. Live on a tiny remote island (think Castaway) and get stuck in to island life. Paradise.

Explore the stunning Elephant Valley Project where you volunteer to help rehabilitate the majestic creatures.
Best time to visit: Temperatures are warm year-round. Dry season is October to April with wet season being May to September.
