Let us help you curate a dynamic and exciting backpacking itinerary

Are you feeling overwhelmed with all the travel advice out there? How many rabbit holes have you gone down? One minute TikTok is telling us to go here - the next minute it's being slated...where to start, what to do? We feel your pain and are here to help.

How? Well, to start off with we've brain dumped all our 'travel knowledge' to create a gap friendly travel hub with the aim to start the ball rolling...a one stop global map of tips and tricks - covering Africa, Asia, South America. Central America, New Zealand and Australia. So, sign up and get rummaging about - it's all free and updated by the Leap team and other gappers who have recently returned from sunny climes.

Once you've done this you you should be inspired and have a clear plan of action. However, if you're not, (and still caught in headlights) then get in contact, you might find you need Milly's help to streamline your plans, introduce you to her global contacts, and make sure you travel safely and responsibly. FYI travel consultations cost £250pp which covers 3 zoom calls covering - brainstorming, planning and packing and safety.

This travel advice hub is perfect for both the independent traveller, and for those planning on travelling after their team Leap programme. It will help you navigate the complexity of travel and give you the confidence to step off the tourist trail.

So, sign up and make your gap year the best it can possibly be.

Where build unique itineraries

Where in the world do you want to go?

Rummage around the globe to find your perfect continent, country and itinerary. We recommend SLOW TRAVEL i.e spending one month in each country, so you can really head off grid. Milly will also persuade you to fill your itinerary with contrasting experiences and environments - making it dynamic and exciting.

+

Incident response team 24/7 back-up and support

24/7 Back-Up and Support

We have persuaded a company who only covered high profile corporations to widen their 24/7 service to the young traveller. They are amazing, and right now having access to their network whilst you travel will be key. They give advice from lost passports, accidents, to borders closing. Do not leave home without their SOS number.

+

Insurance who offer a excellent service

Buy cheap buy twice

Do not buy cheap travel insurance - that is a disaster waiting to happen. Many hospitals reject dodgy looking insurance policies so you have to take this seriously.

Also remember that most insurance policies do not insure you if the FCDO recommends against travelling to said country.

Flights Advice and Routes

Flight Advice

Buying cheap flights is never a good thing to do if you want the flexibility of change. We highly recommend booking through an agent, a human being even, who can help and direct you with any flight changes.

Through our hub you will have access to our team at Trailfinders who are amazing.

Travel consultation Discuss your travel plans

Chat through your travel plans

If you would like your itinerary checked over, then we recommend you arrange a consultation with Milly, our travel guru, who's font of knowledge is extensive when navigating the world. She also has a great book of contacts so can help add some local intel into your plans.

She charges £250pp which will cover:

1. Exploratory, planning zoom - brain storming countries, country highlights, timelines.

2. Review of itinerary - flights, insurance, border crossings, visa.

"Team were amazing"

Thanks so much for your kind email, I am sorry that I only have just seen it now! That evening was definitely a scary shock but it has now made me so much aware about going out at night.

The Leap team were also amazing and I cannot thank Chris and Meli enough for helping me both at the hospital and then the following morning when dealing with insurance. My mum is also very, very grateful that you guys have been there to help the entire time!

"Unstinting & cheerful help!"

Just to say Ollie got to CR & has now met up with his friends! Quite a journey! Thanks to you & all The Leap team for your unstinting & cheerful help! I fear I may be in touch in due course about exiting CR but meanwhile best of luck with all your current trips & I’ll leave you in peace!

"I can’t think of a better company"

Clementine has just finished her Costa Rican adventure with you and has absolutely loved it. She says it was fantastic from start to finish and the group couldn’t have asked for a better team looking after them led by Chris. The same applies to you too. You have been brilliant from the get-go and nothing seems to have daunted you – ever! Getting the children out there was no mean feat and your ability to switch the programme to Costa Rica from Cuba at such short notice was very impressive. The photo at the beginning was a great touch and you have been incredibly responsive to every query however small. Thank you both for everything, I can’t think of a better company to have used for Clementine’s trip.

- Tania ( mum )

"How fantastic you all are"

We really can’t thank you enough for everything you have done to make this amazing adventure happen, and for all the hand holding for Mimi and us along the way! It’s incredible that they have managed to have as close to normal a gap year as it must be possible to have right now and we are enormously enormously grateful to you and everyone at The Leap who has helped make this happen. Thank you. We have been spreading the good word about how fantastic you all are!

- Selina ( mum )

"Your support is very much appreciated"

We knew in choosing The Leap she was travelling with your ‘safety blanket’ and so it proved. Rachel at Trailfinders is also just the best. Very best wishes for continued success in such a challenging environment. The Leapers who are able to travel this year owe you and your team lots of gratitude for getting them away (and back!!).

- Anne ( mum )

"Change the course of their lives"

I am filled with admiration at all the trouble you have taken over every detail, so much appreciated when filling in all those damn forms! And it was brilliant that you kept us all (in our case 3 generations!) involved and informed about the changing situation every day. It has been so difficult for this group of 18 year olds unable to do their A levels properly and with all the attendant problems of the pandemic. I think the programmes you are offering may well change the course of their lives not only for the future of the planet but also by giving them opportunities to work hard together at the same time as having fun. Huge thanks and congratulations, I’m telling everyone how fantastic you are!

- Caromy (Grandmother)

"Quite an extraordinary responsibility"

Thank you, Milly. You've been an absolute star - quite an extraordinary responsibility and you're doing it admirably. Great friend of ours, has signed up for Namibia in March after hearing about Skye's adventures ahead...
