Gold DofE Residentials Abroad

MORE THAN A REQUIREMENT. MORE THAN A SIGN-OFF.

With The Leap, your Gold Residential takes you further

Five days and four nights is the DofE requirement. With The Leap, that’s only the beginning.

Your qualifying Residential becomes part of a 10-day to four-week overseas experience combining locally led projects, cultural immersion, adventure and supported team travel.

You’ll complete your residential and return with international experience, new friendships and real evidence of teamwork, adaptability, initiative and problem-solving for university applications, CVs and future interviews.

DofE Approved Activity Provider

Approved for Gold. Built to Deliver Much More.

The Leap is a licensed DofE Approved Activity Provider for the Residential section of the Gold Award.

That means your qualifying Residential is properly structured, supported and assessed, but the Gold framework is only the starting point.

Every qualifying Leap gives you:

  • 10 days to four weeks overseas, rather than simply meeting the five-day minimum
  • Meaningful projects with established local partners, not one-off volunteering activities
  • Experienced support, from your first enquiry to your return home

You’ll complete your Gold Residential but come home with far more.

Challenge • Culture • Contribution

A Gold Residential that changes something

Every Leap combines Challenge, Culture and Contribution, turning travel into genuine personal growth.

Challenge

Step beyond the familiar. Join a new team, navigate a different culture and take on challenges that teach you to adapt, contribute and keep going.

Culture

Go beyond the tourist trail, spending time with the people and organisations shaping each destination.

Contribution

Work alongside established local partners on purposeful community and conservation projects, taking real responsibility and contributing to something bigger than yourself.

The result? Confidence earned through experience.

How It Works

Three steps to completing your Residential with The Leap

1. Choose Your Leap

Explore our Under-18 and Gap Year programmes and find the destination, dates and level of challenge that suit you.

2. Tell Us You’re Completing Gold

We’ll provide the relevant programme and Assessor information for your DofE Leader or Licensed Organisation to approve before you travel.

3. Take the Leap

Join your team, contribute to the projects and embrace every part of the experience. Once you have successfully completed the qualifying Residential, your Assessor’s Report will be prepared for your DofE record.

The sign-off is only part of the story.
