Gap Year Programme

Costa Rica Good to know

WILDLIFE + ADVENTURE + SURF CULTURE

The Leap Difference

Unlike many volunteer trips, this programme has been built through long-term partnerships with trusted conservation organisations and local communities across Costa Rica.

The projects you support are ongoing, locally led initiatives focused on protecting wildlife and preserving Costa Rica's natural environment. Rather than short-term activities created for visitors, these are established programmes with long-term goals, meaning each Leap team contributes to work that continues long after they leave.

Thanks to our partnership with Costa Rica specialist Chris Patterson, you'll gain access to experiences that go far beyond the typical tourist trail, from supporting sea turtle conservation and environmental projects to immersing yourself in local communities and exploring some of the country's most spectacular landscapes.

Along the way, you'll gain valuable real-world work experience, develop transferable skills such as teamwork, communication and problem-solving, and build evidence of initiative and responsibility that can strengthen future university, apprenticeship and job applications.
