A book club is already about far more than books. It is about friendship, conversation, shared ideas and seeing the world through different perspectives.
This group decided to take that spirit to Cambodia.
They wanted to spend meaningful time together, support projects that connected naturally with their interests and experience the country beyond its traditional tourist route.
The group had been brought together through their shared love of reading.
For their Tailored Leap, they wanted a journey that reflected that connection while giving them the chance to contribute, learn and explore together.
Cambodia offered the perfect combination: a reading project where their enthusiasm felt relevant, a clean-water initiative offering insight into an essential community need, and a wider journey through three very different parts of the country.
Their Tailored Leap began in Siem Reap, where our long-standing local partnerships opened doors to grassroots projects working within nearby communities.
The group spent time supporting our reading club, helping create positive and engaging experiences around books and learning.
They also worked alongside Water for Cambodia, gaining an understanding of how access to safe water affects health, education and everyday family life.
The two projects revealed very different but closely connected aspects of community development.
Instead of seeing Siem Reap only through its famous sights, the group met the people behind the work and learnt about the ideas, challenges and ambitions shaping modern Cambodia.
After their project time, the group continued to Phnom Penh.
The capital introduced another side of Cambodia, its history, energy and rapidly changing modern life, before the journey moved south to Kampot.
With its slower riverside rhythm and beautiful surrounding countryside, Kampot provided space to relax, reflect and enjoy the final part of the adventure together.
The full journey moved from project involvement and local connection to culture, discovery and downtime. Each place added a different chapter.
